Trilliant Health, the healthcare industry’s leading predictive analytics and market research firm, today announced the addition of its national demand forecast to its publicly available application programming interface (API) offerings.

“For decades, health economy stakeholders have developed strategic plans based on flawed models using stale data that conflate America’s increasing burden of disease with future demand for healthcare services, leading to suboptimal capital allocation,” says Trilliant Health CEO Hal Andrews. “Although hospital admissions have been declining since 2008, and overall demand has been relatively flat for years, the nature of demand has dramatically changed in the post-pandemic era. In a rapidly evolving market, a dynamic strategic planning process that leverages the most recent data available is essential to winning healthcare’s negative-sum game. By making our national demand forecast publicly available, we hope to enable every health economy stakeholder to make the best decisions possible.”

Trilliant Health’s demand forecast leverages GLMMs in combination with 100B+ rows of claims data to project future demand for healthcare services over a 10-year horizon. The national forecast, which is updated quarterly, is publicly available via API, with projections by service line and demographic segments. Premium licenses offer subservice line detail and more granular geographies, with forecasts by state, core-based statistical area and zip code.

With the demand forecast, stakeholders across the health economy can:

  • Develop strategic plans to drive return on invested capital;
  • Create financial projections based on evolving market demand for healthcare technologies, care modalities, pharmaceuticals and medical devices;
  • Inform provider needs analysis with a detailed understanding of demand at the service-line level.

The release follows Trilliant Health’s announcement of its open-access provider directory that contains information about more than 2.7 million healthcare providers. Together, these capabilities enable stakeholders to evaluate how the forces of supply and demand will drive future physician needs and optimal care delivery sites.
